"Anger is a protective feeling. Like all emotions, there is a duality to it of both active and receptive forces. The active force of anger is often feared, and as a consequence the receptive force is equally feared and distrusted. But when both parts of anger are balanced and respected, anger is a very useful and lovable thing.
The flame represents the active flame and fire of anger and its many expressions. The candle represents how that anger is safely grounded. The flower and cactus both represent the protective aspects of anger. The flower (a marigold) is alluring, beautiful, and unassuming, used as a planned protective measure. The cactus is direct and obvious in its protectiveness, honest about the consequences of crossing its boundaries, and doing no harm if its space is respected.
The coins are from my practice with the I Ching, "The Book of Changes." The dotted coins represent yang, the solid yin. There are six total, as there are six lines in each I Ching hexagram. They are grouped with the balanced forces of the text. Yang with "Your Anger Protects You" and yin with "Listen To It." Three yang lines together make up the trigram "The Creative" and three yin lines make up "The Receptive.""
